Way of the Roses cyclist friendly cafe coffee barn accommodation Yorkshire Wolds

Field House Campsite and Coffee Barn, Tibthorpe

Ride #2 – Snainton (58 miles, figure 8) via Wetwang, Sledmere, Sherburn, West Heslerton, Driffield and Hutton Cranswick explores the quiet lanes north of Sledmere before passing through Sherburn after a long descent.

The miles between there and West Heslerton – over the Vale of Pickering – are pan flat, but worth the diversion for the ascent of ‘White Gate’ through West Heslerton Wold.

After another long descent we’re on the Sledmere Big Skies Bike Ride route, but on this ride at West Lutton we pick up the roller coaster roads to Cowlam and Driffield, from where the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route (then the Way of the Roses) is followed through Hutton Cranswick before heading back to Tibthorpe.

NB – the road between Snainton and Yedingham can be a little busy at times. If you didn’t fancy the full route you could just ride the bottom half of this figure 8 as far as Sledmere – see that shortcut option as a Strava segment.

Refreshment opportunities in Sledmere, Broughton, Snainton and Hutton Cranswick.
